I was stressed as usual so I headed to Starbucks Alphaland for comfort food. Yes, I have an expensive craving. I was welcomed by their signage of new drinks and greeted warmly by their wonderful staff, as always.
Being a weak human, I gave in to it. I ordered their featured drink, salted caramel mocha crumble, and featured cake, Belgian flourless chocolate mousse- thinking it would compliment the saltiness of my drink. Wrong!
The salted caramel mocha crumble was sweet and adding the saltiness of caramel made it sweeter. It was topped w/ whipped cream and cookie crumbs making it a perfect dessert drink. There was no hint of coffee (we need bitterness sometimes).I think I would've enjoyed it more as a cold drink (frappuccino or iced) instead of hot.
The belgian flourless chocolate mousse was thick, chocolaty, with just enough sweetness, supported by rich brownie.
I think the salted caramel mocha crumble would go best with cheesecake or bread, while the mousse cake would go with cappuccino. I enjoyed them both individually, really. But just like two attractive people we want to see together but don't love each other, some things are not meant to be together. Metaphor: nailed it!
THE PLACE 5/5
Cozy, not well-lit but not too dim. Relaxing space in a busy place. Their location is perfect for business since it's close to MRT and I'd rather spend an hour drinking coffee than wait in line for 2 hours.
THE FOOD 5/5
I've not yet tried all of the menu but I'm planning to. I especially love their cafe mocha and java chip frappe. Their cakes and breads were good, too. I also tried their lasagna: liked it.
THE SERVICE 5/5
So far, all Starbucks crew I've encountered are very well-trained in terms of customer service.
THE PRICE 5/5
SCMC (tall)- 165
BFCMC- 160
I am biased. Of course it's too pricey but it's Starbucks!
