It was our family's tradition to hear mass every Sunday then eat out. However, due to our busy schedules in work, we rarely do it anymore. Last Sunday, to celebrate Mom's birthday, we head to Greenbelt church where we always go to since Mom was working at Ayala back then. The original plan was to eat buffet but we went too early (4:30) for the dinner buffet and we were hungry. Actually we're late. We planned to eat lunch buffet so we didn't eat lunch at home but my annoying brother was still sleeping so we waited for him to wake up and get ready then it was 2PM already.
Anyway, along the way to Dad's Glorietta, we passed by Luk Yuen, our family's favorite Chinese restaurant. Being too hungry to wait for the buffet, we decided to dine in Luk Yuen instead. That was not my first time dining in that branch. I tried eating alone and I was fulfilled and it didn't cost much.
THE PLACE (5/5)
Luk Yuen Glorietta 2 |
It's easy to locate since it's just near the entrance bridge of Glorietta 2 connecting to Landmark. I thought I would not like the place since it could be crowded given its location but it's still cozy, wide and well-lit.

THE FOOD (4.5/5)
Negative first before positive. I didn't like the pork siomai. There was an after taste like it's an old meat. My family seemed to enjoy it since they ordered 3 (4 pieces per serving) but I'm not a fan. Master Siomai pa rin mga tol!

However, I loved the rest of the food we ordered. Our usual orders are halo-halo congee, noodle soup, and (free) house tea. The congee lived up to its name: halo-halo. Sticky rice soup (lugaw) mixed with different ingredients: innards, chips, fresh egg, meat balls, liver. I loved everything on it. Mom ordered the wanton noodle soup (instead of her usual beef brisket) and I liked it too. Though it's not as tasty as the beef brisket noodle soup since it's just wanton. Makes sense?

We also ordered yangchow fried rice and deep-fried peppercorn prawns. The fried rice was tasty but not too salty. It compliments with the oily goodness of the fried prawns, which is so crispy you can eat the shell. Well, some of it. I thought it would be bigger since it's prawns, not shrimps, but oh well.

Feed me that crispy prawn |
Saving the best for last, the highlight for me is the hakaw dumpling. It's a dumpling stuffed with 3 shrimps inside (my annoying brother counted it) and it''s pure perfection! We only ordered 2 since it's too pricey but it's worth it!

THE SERVICE (4/5)
The staffs seemed confused of what they're doing and the place wasn't even jam-packed yet. Though they serve the food fast.
THE PRICE (4.5/5)
Php 205- Halo-halo congee (regular)
Php 189- Wanton noodle soup (regular)
Php 145- Pork siomai
Php 195- Hakaw dumplings
Php 250- Yangchow fried rice
Php 398- Deep-fried peppercorn prawns
I'm only giving it a 4.5 in an attempt to make the hakaw dumpling lessen its cost. Please, feed this poor girl's tummy some yummy dumplings.

I will go back here, and hoard all their hakaw dumplings. LOL.
