"I came from New York... New York, Cubao."
This has been a traditional joke of Filipinos from Manila. But who would've known that aside from the concrete jungle where dreams are made of (Yaaaas!), we can also find Italy in the center of Cubao?
During my staycation in Manhattan Parkway, I found this Italian restobar called Giovanni's Bar Ristorante. It caught my attention because (1) pasta, (2) it has budget
meals (P199 is a budget meal for the rich), and (3) the place wasn’t full yet since it was only 5PM.
THE PLACE

It was cozy with the feel of Italy. I noticed their pugon
where they cook pizza, and the huge painting of a view from a balcony. I love
artistic things.
THE SERVICE

The staffs were very nice and accommodating.

I ordered Margherita pizza, Genova, and tiramisu. I was
a bit disappointed with the pizza because I was expecting it was topped with
real slices of tomatoes but no. It only has cheese and tomato sauce.

I loved
the Genova promo meal which is a combo of Lasagna al Pesto, chicken breast with
potato-something-that-looks-like-mozarella-sticks-but-it's-a-potato, and iced tea. The lasagna was smaller than I expected (or wanted) but
considering the price P199, it’s not bad. The chicken breast… GOSH! I need to
know the secret of that fried goodness.

For the dessert, tiramisu, I had better
ones but nice try. LOL. It was too... wet? And the chiffon cake didn't suit well with the filling. No one can replace ladyfingers.

OVERALL

I’m too lazy to do math so just an estimation. I would visit
again if ever I passed by Cubao to try their risotto and ravioli.
Giovanni's Bar Ristorante is located at Manhattan Parkway, 20 General Malvar Ave, Cubao, Quezon City, open from 11:00 AM-11PM.
